One of our clients Richard Christie is about to prepare his proposed house platform for the new Villa in Darwin Road, Kerikeri. Once completed Richard plans to run his guitar tutoring business from this location.
“Ultimately I determined the floor layout myself, right down to the last millimetre,if I make a mistake I prefer having only myself to blame. I had minimal but very expert guidance from Martin O’Brien, our new draughtsman and architect. Martin was a pleasure to work with, a good communicator and someone who had the gift of making a difficult path easily negotiable. After we’d established the layout Martin then advised on many other aspects, drew up the resulting plans, completed the details (where the devil lives) and submitted it to Council for building consent. To his credit consent was duly obtained on time and without any significant query from the bureaucrats. Martin also took care of our waste-water design and soil hazard test requirements.”
Martin completed the Kerikeri Half Marathon on 21 November 2012 supporting the Pink Pilates Trust.

Licensed Building Practitioner Scheme
Over the past year there have been many changes in the building industry from the changes to the building code to the introduction of the Licence Building Practitioners (LBP) Scheme. The LBP scheme is one of the changes in the Building Act 2004 to encourage better building design and construction. From 1 March 2012 critical building work that is known as Restricted Building Work, must be done by an LBP.
Martin of ODC has been practicing as a Licensed Building Practitioner (Design2) since October 2010, so our clients can rest easy that they are receiving the highest quality design service.
Remember to check if your building practitioner is Licensed. For more information on the LBP scheme follow the link on the right hand side of this page or click here to view Martins LBP registration details.
